Bistro88: Donuts with strawberry glaze (?)

I didn't catch the name of this dessert. One heck of a winner in my book. Pity about the calorie count. I had two!

What does your coffee say about you? New study reveals personality traits of caffeine lovers - News - Food & Drink - The Independent

What does your coffee say about you? New study reveals personality traits of caffeine lovers

Every morning in the UK caffeine lovers across the nation consume a staggering 70 million cups of coffee.

But aside from providing the oft needed early morning boost, the type of coffee a person likes to drink can also reveal a lot about their personality, according to a new study.

Clinical psychologist Dr Ramani Durvasula analysed 1,000 coffee lovers and examined common personality styles and psychological traits, looking specifically at introversion and extroversion, patience, perfectionism, warmth, vigilance, sensitivity and social boldness.

In her results, Dr Durvasula found that those with a penchant for black coffee are typically purist, no-nonsense individuals with a tendency to prefer the simple life, although they could also be abrupt, impatient and even averse to change.

In contrast, latte drinkers tended to be intent on pleasing others, but could also show slightly more neurotic attributes.

'Perfectionist' cappuccino drinkers are perhaps the most high-demand personality, with Dr Durvasula's research finding them to be obsessive and controlling, overly sensitive, and health-conscious.

Instant coffee drinkers seemed to display more laid-back characteristics in the findings of her study however. Personality traits associated with this group included a predisposition to procrastinate and put off things that need doing.

Finally, those who preferred their coffee fix cold and sweet were considered socially bold 'trend-setters' who could be reckless on occasion.

Kitchen-test 01: Lemon blueberry yoghurt cake

So I tweaked the sugar and butter a bit---as usual---and the batter was a bit sticky. It rose OK but had me worried when it was still runny at centre after the prescribed number of minutes. Added 15 more, the cake went golden
And more like brown

Then here's how it looked when done.

Chicken baked in balsamic vinegar

Marinated overnight in balsamic vinegar, OO, and the usual Italian herbs (dry).

Before the 45-min bake, I topped up the BV and substituted Chinese cooking wine for white since I ran out. In hindsight, I should've gone with my usual preference---red because the cooking wine washed out the flavor or I may have used too much.

I remember it being more potent the last time I made it. It's still good though

Lazy one-pot chicken & pasta

I had leftover chicken roast and sauce from a previous baked expedition all saved up for this quick bake.

I threw in the usual dried herbs and half a head of garlic before adding the can of diced tomatoes.

Once boiling, the pasta went in.

I love my Aunt's trusty Rowenta oven. I can see everything cook:

It's looking pretty good. The sauce is getting thick while the pasta shells eat up all that herby broth. It tasted wonderful 30 minutes ago, it should be fantastic when it's done.

Is that a gorgeous mess or what?

Healthier solution for sweet cravingd

Carrots baked in honey. Yum.

I should remember the foil top next time, to avoid burning the carrot sticks.

This is going to be my new go-to snack.
